Freightliner announces name change to Daimler Trucks

Portland, Oregon – Freightliner LLC has announced that it will change its corporate name to Daimler Trucks North America LLC, effective January 7, 2008. Freightliner LLC has been part of Daimler AG or one of its predecessor companies since 1981.

The decision was made parallel with the approval of a name change from DaimlerChrysler AG to Daimler AG at a special meeting of shareholders on October 4, 2007.

A new Daimler logo was unveiled last week in Stuttgart, in keeping with the sale of the former Chrysler Group. At the same time, the name of the former DaimlerChrysler Truck Group was changed to Daimler Trucks.

Freightliner LLC manufactures, distributes and services products under the nameplates Detroit Diesel, Freightliner Trucks, Freightliner Custom Chassis, Mercedes-Benz engines and transmissions, Sterling Trucks, Thomas Built Buses and Western Star Trucks. Company officials stress that the existing operations, structure and brand strategies will not be affected, and that the name change will not affect dealer operations or supplier relationships.
