Calgary, Alberta – Drivers in Alberta confused about the province’s new distracted driving law can take advantage of free legal advice on the law.

DAS Legal Protection Insurance Company is offering Albertans a week of free legal advice about the new law, which it said includes fines that are issued at the discretion of the police officer.

“People don’t realize that if you get a ticket, particularly one that you disagree with, you have options beyond simply paying the fine,” said Barbara Haynes, CEO of DAS Canada. “Before anyone goes out on the road without a clear understanding of the new law, or takes action on a ticket, they should be calling us for advice. Now they can do so, free of charge, for an entire week.”

Free access to qualified legal advice on the new law runs from October 3 to October 9, 2011 at 1-877-882-3842.
