Fourteen MINI dealerships open for business
Whitby, Ontario – BMW Group Canada officially opened fourteen new MINI dealerships across Canada on Friday: MINI Yaletown (Vancouver, B.C.), MINI Richmond (B.C.), MINI Victoria (B.C.), MINI Winnipeg (MB), MINI Durham (Whitby, ON), MINI Downtown (Toronto, ON), MINI Woodbridge (ON), MINI Markham (ON), MINI Oakville (ON), MINI Waterloo (ON) MINI Ottawa East (ON), MINI Laval (QC), MINI Mount Royal (Montreal, QC) and MINI Halifax (N.S.). One additional dealer, MINI Crowfoot (Calgary, AB), will open later this year.
“Introducing an entirely new brand into the market is truly an opportunity of a lifetime,” commented Hendrik von Kuenheim, President and CEO of BMW Group Canada. “The entire BMW Group organization in Canada has been looking forward to this day for over eighteen months. It is the day where we can finally see, first hand, the smiles on customers faces as they drive away in the first MINIs sold in Canada in over twenty years.”
Since its introduction into the European market last fall, sales of the MINI have been exceptional; so good, in fact, that an additional shift has since been added to the Oxford Factory in order to increase production requests.
“Through on-line sales (of MINI Cooper Launch Editions) and pre-orders, Canadian customers have shown such a huge interest in buying the MINI that we have increased production by at least 10% this year to approximately 2000 units,” explains Dan Creed, National Sales Manager for BMW Group Canada.
The majority of MINI dealers have either new facilities or new showrooms adjacent to existing BMW dealerships.
Two MINI models are offered in Canada: the MINI Cooper with a 115 horsepower 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine; and the MINI Cooper S which has a supercharged 163 horsepower 1.6 litre 4 cylinder motor. The two models are priced at $24,950 and $29,600 respectively.
MINI Canada is a division of BMW Group Canada.
