Mumbai, India – The former head of GM Europe has been named the CEO of Tata Motors, with overall responsibility of the group globally, including Jaguar and Land Rover, according to Automotive News Europe.

Carl-Peter Forster, a former General Motors executive, will take over from Ravi Kant, who last year moved to the office of non-executive vice chairman.

Forster left General Motors in November after criticizing the company for reversing its decision to sell its Opel division to Canadian auto supplier Magna International.
