Dearborn, Michigan – Ford has debuted the production version of the 2012 Ford Focus at the Paris Motor Show. The new model will launch in North America early in 2011 as a four-door sedan or four-door hatchback.
The company has also debuted the performance Ford Focus ST, which will be available in world markets, including North America, beginning in 2012.
In North America, the Focus will be available with a full complement of Ford technology, including Sync, MyFord Touch, in-car WiFi capability, active park assist and a rearview camera.
“The new Ford Focus is a clear demonstration that our One Ford strategy is providing global consumers with great products that harness the best of Ford Motor Company,” said Ford president and CEO Alan Mulally. “The efficiencies generated by our new global C-car platform will enable us to provide Ford Focus customers with an affordable product offering quality, fuel efficiency, safety and technology beyond their expectations.”
All North American Focus models will use Ford’s new 2.0-litre gasoline engine, equipped with direct injection and twin independent variable camshaft timing. A six-speed PowerShift automatic dual-clutch transmission will also be offered, which helps to reduce fuel consumption by up to nine per cent compared to conventional transmissions.
