Dearborn, Michigan – Ford has announced that the Shelby GT will be available in model-year 2008 with a new convertible body style and new standard colour combination. The 2008 Shelby will be available in coupe and convertible from select dealers beginning in August 2007.
For 2008, the Shelby will also be available in a new combination of Vista Blue with silver stripes. The cars begin as specially-equipped Mustang GTs assembled in Flat Rock, Michigan; they are then shipped to Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas for final production.
The Shelby features a 4.6-litre V8, upgraded with a Ford Racing Power package to 319 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque; other features include a high-flow exhaust system, five-speed standard transmission with Hurst short-throw shifter, Ford Racing Handling Package, lowered ride height and 18-inch polished wheels. The convertible includes supplemental bracing and a light bar. Approximately 2,300 coupes and convertibles will be produced for 2,300, available with manual or automatic transmission, and each with authentication plate and matching under-hood tag for registry documentation.
