Oakville, Ontario – The 1980 Ford Econoline van that followed Terry Fox for every kilometre of his Marathon of Hope has been found and restored.

Fox began his journey in 1980, accompanied by the van, but until recently, the van’s whereabouts were unknown. It was found a few months ago, and its restoration was undertaken by Ford of Canada. The van was completely dismantled, then restored and preserved to its original 1980 conditions by a team of professionals working a culmination of over 1,000 hours of work.

Later this week, Ford will turn the van over to the Terry Fox Foundation, which will make an announcement about the van’s future.
