Ford reaffirms its commitment to manufacturing in Germany
Cologne, Germany – The management and central works council of Ford-Werke GmbH (Ford of Germany) have signed an agreement securing vehicle assembly in its Cologne and Saarlouis plants for the next five years.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company will continue to build the Ford Fiesta and Fusion models in Cologne, and the Ford Focus in Saarlouis. The agreement affects 24,000 employees. In turn, employee wage rates, which are currently higher than the national automotive industry tariff, will be reduced to be closer to the tariff. In 2005, Ford of Germany built a record high of 407,000 Fiestas and Fusions, and 422,769 Focus models. The Fiesta and Fusion are exported to 59 different countries, while the Focus is exported to 80 territories.
