Dearborn, Michigan – Ford President and COO Jim Padilla has announced his retirement, following a 40-year career with the automaker.
Padilla joined Ford as a quality control engineer in 1966 and joined the management ranks in 1976, holding a number of positions including program operations manager for the Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer. In 1992 he became director of Engineering & Manufacturing at Jaguar, where, within three years, he led Jaguar back from nearly last in the J.D. Power survey to among the top tier. He also restructured the company’s South American operations between 1996 and 1998.
