Ford of Canada’s 2001 sales decrease 12 percent

Oakville, Ontario – Ford of Canada’s sales revenues totalled $21.6 billion in 2001, down 12 percent compared to $24.6 billion in 2000.

The president and CEO of Ford of Canada, Alain Batty, acknowledged the challenges the company faced in 2001, but he sees Ford of Canada making solid gains in the marketplace in 2002, fuelled by renewed investments and strong sales momentum.

“We worked hard in 2001 to put some key business fundamentals in place and it meant making some difficult decisions. While we’ll continue to face challenges, the momentum at Ford of Canada is building,” he said.
