Dearborn, Michigan – The redesigned 2009 Ford F-150 has earned the highest ratings in both of the U.S. government crash tests, and has been named a “Top Safety Pick”, the only pickup truck to do so.

The F-150 earned the highest five-star ratings for frontal and side impact crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in addition to top ratings and a “Top Safety Pick” award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The new F-150 includes a new hydroformed steel front end, dual-stage front airbags with occupant weight classification, a new dual-chamber side airbag for improved rib cage protection, and standard Safety Canopy curtain airbag rollover protection system, which stays inflated for several seconds for additional protection in rollover crashes.
