Ford establishes Research & Engineering Company in China
Nanjing, China – Ford Motor China has announced the establishment of Ford Motor Research & Engineering (Nanjing) Co., following the granting of all government approvals. The company, located in the Jiangning Economic & Technological Development Zone near Nanjing, is an integral part of Ford’s global R&D and component sourcing network.
Ford Motor China announced its intention to set up the R&E centre at the Beijing Auto Show last November.
Presently, Ford owns 30 per cent of the shares of Jiangning Motors Corporation Ltd., which produces the Ford Transit commercial vehicle and other products. Ford also has a 50-50 passenger car joint venture with Changan Automotive, which has successfully launched the Ford Fiesta and Mondeo passenger cars to the market. Its third product, the all-new Focus, has been built in Chongqing since 2005. Ford’s sales in China also include the imported Maverick SUV and Lincoln Navigator.
