When equipped with the “Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive”, the Escape Hybrid will start at $35,925.

The Ford Escape Hybrid has a full hybrid system that enables it to run on its gasoline engine, electric battery power, or both together.

“Interest in the Escape Hybrid has been very encouraging – it is generating a great deal of excitement,” says Alain Batty, President and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited. “Canadians tell us they have been waiting for a vehicle that provides them with space, utility, is very fuel efficient, and offers low emissions, in short, a vehicle that offers no compromises.”

The Escape Hybrid is a no-compromise hybrid-electric sport utility vehicle, featuring the product strengths that have made Escape Canada’s best-selling SUV. Its responsive steering and handling, and available four-wheel drive deliver a driving experience unlike any other hybrid vehicle available in the world.

The Escape Hybrid’s fuel efficient Duratec 2.3 litre four cylinder gas engine and electric powertrain combine to deliver acceleration performance similar to the popular Duratec 3.0 litre V6 powered Escape, along with greatly improved fuel economy and near-zero smog-forming emissions.

The MSRPs of the Escape Hybrid are $5,000 above comparably equipped 2005 V6 powered Ford Escape XLT models.

Prince Edward Island, Ontario and British Columbia have provincial incentives available to customers who purchase an Escape Hybrid. The current incentives are:

Ontario — Rebate of Ontario Retail Sales tax to a maximum of $1,000, plus full reimbursement of any Tax for Fuel Conservation paid ($75 on Escape Hybrid).

Prince Edward Island — Rebate of Provincial Sales tax to a maximum of $3,000 (note: PEI sales tax rate is presently 10%).
British Columbia — Rebate of 30% of General Social Service Tax paid to a maximum of $1,000 (maximum rebate of $1,000 when vehicle price is $44,400).

The 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid will be built at Ford Motor Company’s Kansas City, Missouri assembly plant.
