Ford donates customized guitars to United Way of Cleveland’s GuitarMania
Cleveland, Ohio – Ford is showcasing its new product line-up and donating the first Limited Edition Ford Shelby GT Standard Stratocaster guitar at an annual charity event to benefit the Greater Cleveland United Way and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s education fund.
GuitarMania is a greater Cleveland community public art project that has raised more than US$1.5 million for the two charities. The project consists of oversized Stratocaster guitars that are transformed into works of art by local artists and national celebrities and displayed on the street of Cleveland from June through November 2007. Ford will sponsor two of the enormous guitars, customized by the company’s designers, to benefit the event.
Ford has two Fender guitars available through the Ford Collection at FordCollection.com, beginning March 1, 2007. The Limited Edition Ford Shelby GT Standard Stratocaster guitar was inspired by the custom guitar sold with the first production 2007 Ford Shelby GT Mustang at auction, which brought US$600,000 for charity. The first 200 guitars will be signed by Carroll Shelby and donated to GuitarMania. The Fender Sonoran dreadnought acoustic guitar features Venetian cutaway, exclusive blue-burst finish, Fender electronics, Stratocaster headstock and die-cast tuners and pickup.
