Ford announces new Mercury Monterey minivan, redesigned 2004 Ford Windstar
Oakville, Ontario – Ford announced that a new 2004 Mercury Monterey minivan will be built in the same Oakville, Ontario assembly plant as the redesigned 2004 Ford Windstar. Both will go on sale in the fall of 2003.
The new Monterey will offer side curtain airbags for all three seating rows, front and rear object-sensing systems, an advanced tire-pressure monitoring system, heated and cooled front seats and dual-zone climate control. The Monterey also will be the only minivan in the market to offer, as standard equipment, a 4.2-litre V6 engine.
The interior will feature a distinctive satin aluminum finish on the instrument panel and gauge cluster and a fold-into-the-floor third-row seat. Outside, the Monterey has a “waterfall” grille, use of satin finishes on door handles and distinctive wheel designs.
The Ford Windstar, which is to be redesigned for the 2004-model year, also has a completely redesigned interior with a new standard fold-flat third-row seat designed to fit into the vehicle’s floor – eliminating the need to remove the heavy seat and store it while not in use. The 2004 Windstar will add side curtain airbags for all three full rows.
