First Canadian-built Chevy Equinox rolls off the line

Ingersoll, Ontario – The first 2005 Chevy Equinox compact sport utility vehicle rolled off the assembly line on Friday at the CAMI assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario. The Equinox is a compact SUV engineered and assembled in Canada.
Michael Grimaldi, President of General Motors of Canada Limited said, “..the Equinox is symbolic of good things that are happening at Chevrolet. This new Equinox is going to hit a real sweet spot in the Canadian market with the right fit, the right form, the right functions, and the right price.”
Canadian Auto Workers president, Buzz Hargrove said, “With the commitment and skills from the CAW members and CAMI workforce, the CAMI assembly plant will compete well with excellence and quality in manufacturing. The Equinox demonstrates what working together to build a high quality vehicle can achieve.”
