San Antonio, Texas – The first all-new 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck rolled off the assembly line at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas Inc. (TMMTX) on Friday. The event marked the official grand opening of the US$1.28 billion San Antonio plant, which will start with a one-shift operation and add a second shift in the spring of 2007.

TMMTX is located on the site of the former Walsh-Small Ranch, believed to be the oldest cattle ranch in Texas; at full production, it will be capable of producing some 200,000 trucks each year, with a crew of 2,000 employees working two shifts. The site is located near two major interstates, and is immediately adjacent to two competing rail lines.
