St. Louis, Missouri – Enterprise, which operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, has announced that its refuelling charges when returning vehicles is about 63 per cent lower than at competing rental companies.
Enterprise said that many of the major car rental brands charge $3.00 to $3.55 per litre for refuelling a car brought back with less than a full tank of gas, although self-serve gasoline averages about 90.7 cents per litre. Enterprise’s brands charge only about $1.36 per litre, depending on market pricing, the company said.
Enterprise, National and Alamo customers who rent at airports have the option of returning their vehicles full of gas, prepaying for a full tank at a discount, or asking for the tank to be refilled after returning the rental car.
“We remain committed to charging a reasonable fee to cover refuelling costs,” said Matthew Darrah, senior vice-president of North American operations. “Furthermore, because our refuelling rates sometimes can be a source of confusion, we’ve revised our policy to provide not only value, but also greater transparency and clarity.”
Darrah said that, effective immediately, airport customers will pay the local market price of self-serve gasoline, plus a mark-up not to exceed 50 per cent of the fuel cost, at all corporate-owned locations and participating franchises.
