Enterprise, National and Alamo car rentals announce industry’s largest carbon offset program

St. Louis, Missouri – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car have announced a new customer carbon offset program for Canada and the U.S.

Each year, between 20 and 25 million customers of the three companies will be able to opt in to pay $1.25 per rental to offset the carbon dioxide emissions generated by their car rentals. The money will fund certified offset projects that work to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

The program will be offered at participating locations beginning in January 2008, and will be offered to Enterprise’s European customers in mid-2008. The companies will match customer purchases dollar for dollar, up to $1 million.

Customers will be able to purchase carbon offsets while booking reservations through call-in reservation centres or online at Enterprise.com, NationalCar.com, or Alamo.com.
