Toronto, Ontario – The Canadian Cancer Society and the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion have announced the winners of the 2008 Driven to Quit Challenge. The health promotion campaign was designed to encourage Ontario adults who are daily smokers to quit smoking for the month of March. The grand prize, a Toyota Prius, was won by Dianna Watson of Copper Cliff, Ontario.
“I’ve been smoking for more than 30 years and have tried to quit many times,” Watson said. “The Driven to Quit Challenge proved to be the motivation I needed to stop smoking. The resources and support available from the Canadian Cancer Society and the Smokers’ Helpline were invaluable. Winning the Toyota Prius hybrid is a wonderful bonus, but my new smoke-free life is the real prize.”
More than 26,600 people participated in the event; those who remained smoke-free for the entire month were entered into a random draw for the chance to win the Prius or one of seven $3,000 Future Shop gift cards.
