Dodge Charger SRT8 and Chrysler 300C SRT8 entered in Targa Newfoundland

Auburn Hills, Michigan – A 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 and 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8 will be participating in the fourth annual Targa Newfoundland road rally in September 2005. The vehicles will be driven in the Unlimited Division by executives from SRT and Chrysler Group.

The only event of its type held in North America, Targa Newfoundland is a 38-stage competitive rally for historic, classic and modern sporting cars held on the paved roads of the eastern and central parts of Newfoundland. Based on the original Targa Florio of Sicily, Targa Newfoundland spans six days and will begin Sunday, September 11 in St. John’s.

Slight modifications will be made to the cars competing in the Targa Newfoundland. The 6.1-liter Hemi V8 will remain stock, as will the SRT8 brakes. The vehicles’ suspensions will be stiffened, and modifications will be made to the exteriors in order to accommodate larger wheels and tires. Roll cages will be added, and unnecessary weight will be removed for racing competition.
