Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler Group has announced that the all-new Dodge Avenger will race at select events in NASCAR Nextel Cup competition, beginning in 2007. The production version of the Avenger midsize sedan, as well as the Avenger race-car, was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this week.

The Avenger is scheduled to make its competitive debut at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 25, 2007 in NASCAR’s “Car of Tomorrow” implementation, an effort to develop a safer, less-expensive race-car using a more common design. During the multi-year phase-in of Car of Tomorrow, the Dodge Charger will continue to race in NASCAR Nextel Cup competition.
