Pikes Peak, Colorado – Three diesel-powered Volkswagen Touareg V10s powered by new ultra low sulphur diesel (ULSD) finished 1-2-3 in their class at the 84th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Leader Mark Miller finished the 20 km “Race to the Clouds” in 14 minutes and eight seconds.

The three Volkswagens were the first to use ULSD in the race. The vehicles were basically stock, with modifications made primarily for mandatory safety regulations, including roll cages, fire extinguishers, special driver’s seats and five-point racing seatbelt harnesses.
