New York, New York – A factory-sponsored Jaguar XF 2.2-litre diesel has left New York City with the aim of arriving in Los Angeles in seven days to evaluate how efficient its engine can be.

The British-registered, right-hand-drive Jaguar will travel 4,506 km through 11 states on the journey. It is driven by independent U.K. test drivers David and Alexander Madgwick.

A GPS device will make the project interactive, and the XF’s progress, its average speed and fuel economy can be tracked on Facebook.

The stock vehicle was shipped from Jaguar’s global headquarters in Whitley, Coventry, making it the first diesel Jaguar to enter the U.S. from the factory.
