DaimlerChrysler to return to Targa Newfoundland

St. John’s, Newfoundland – For the second year in a row, DaimlerChrysler will enter two vehicles in the Targa Newfoundland road rally, to be held September 9 to 16. The company will enter a modified Dodge Caliber and a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

The vehicles will be driven by Dan Knott and Ralph Gilles, both of whom raced for the first time in 2005. Knott claimed fourth in the Open Division, while Gilles crashed on the fourth day and failed to finish. Currently Vice President of Jeep, Truck and Component Studio Design, Gilles was the creative force behind the Chrysler 300C and Dodge Charger.

Gilles, who will drive the Caliber, will keep an online diary at www.driveSRT.com.
