Santa Monica, California – DaimlerChrysler Canada has announced the all-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible, built on the company’s new D-segment platform. The new convertible will be offered with a choice of vinyl, cloth or a steel retractable hardtop that is a first for a Sebring convertible; all can be retracted via the key fob and feature a standard power hard tonneau cover on all models.

The company says the convertible offers “exhilarating performance with excellent fuel efficiency, a spacious interior that comfortably sits four adults, and enough room in the trunk to hold two golf bags, even when the top is dropped.” The new convertible will start at $29,995 for the LX, with the Touring at $34,995 and the Limited at $39,995.

The new convertible shares many traits with the all-new 2007 Sebring sedan, and is 74 mm longer, 89 mm taller and 50 mm wider than the Sebring convertible it replaces.

In Canada, the Sebring Convertible will be available with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder, 2.7-litre V6 with E85 capability, and 3.5-litre High Output V6 engine coupled with a new six-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick manual mode. Production begins in the first quarter of 2007 at the newly-refurbished Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan.
