DaimlerChrysler announces MyGIG multimedia system
Auburn Hills, Michigan – The Chrysler Group has announced the introduction of MyGIG, an in-dash “infotainment” system that combines navigation, real-time traffic, hands-free communication, and a 20-gigabyte hard drive to store music and photos. The system will debut on the 2007 Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Nitro and Jeep Wrangler vehicles.
The MyGIG multimedia head includes a navigation system, real-time traffic through the integrated SIRIUS satellite radio, and a USB 2.0 port interface that allows users to download photos or about 1,600 songs. The GPS navigation system uses either touch-screen or voice-activated destination input, with 2-D and 3-D bird’s-eye views of roads and multiple route calculation. The 6.5-inch thin-film-transistor (TFT) screen allows for viewing from angles up to 180 degrees, and is capable of playing movies when the vehicle is parked.
