Crankshaft oil leak plagues Ford GT
Detroit, Michigan – A crankshaft oil leak proves a second setback for Ford’s high-performance GT roadster, following a December 16 recall to replace flawed suspension control arms on 448 units.
Technicians have been told to install a “Speedi-Sleeve” to keep oil from leaking out. No recall has been issued for the problem.
The GT, which retails for around US$150,000, has been plagued with other small glitches, including power steering fluid leaks. The roadster is built in Wixom, Michigan; rumours are that Wixom may be slated for closure, which has led to speculation that morale could be a factor in assembling the complex supercars.
