Mount Vernon, Illinois – Continental Tire is investing US$224 million into its plant in Illinois due to increasing demand for its Continental and General brand tires. The investment will add 444 new full-time jobs over the next three years.
Of the $224 million, $171 million will be used for new machinery and equipment, and $53 million directed for building and infrastructure. The plant capacity for passenger and light truck tires will increase by nearly four million tires per year. The commercial tire division will also increase its capacity by 15 per cent.
The latest investment brings Continental Tire’s total investment in the facility to nearly $500 million since 2006. More than 2,500 people currently work at the plant.
