Toronto, Ontario – Consumer Reports has revoked its designation of “Don’t Buy: Safety Risk” on the 2010 Lexus GX 460, as reported by Toyota Canada, due to a software upgrade on the vehicle stability control (VSC) and a subsequent retest of the vehicle.

The upgrade is available to owners of all 2010 Lexus GX 460 models in Canada.

Consumer Reports originally added the designation when it said that the GX 460 slid too far sideways before the VSC brought it back under control in an emergency handling test. Following the software upgrade, the magazine’s testers said that they did not experience any safety concerns in similar tests.

Owners who have not yet had the software upgrade performed are urged to contact their dealerships as soon as possible. Lexus Canada dealerships will continue to provide a courtesy vehicle to anyone who has purchased a 2010 GX 460 and has concerns about driving it until the recall work has been completed. In addition, Lexus is also offering remote repairs, pickup and delivery service, and fuelling and washing of customer cars.

Owners are also encouraged to join Club Lexus, through which they can receive vehicle-specific recall information and automated online service reminders.
