Collector car auction to be held with Meadow Brook Concours
Beverly Hills, California – One of North America’s most prestigious collector car auctions
will be held in conjunction with the internationally renowned 25th Annual Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance in Michigan on August 2, 2003.
RM Auctions returns to Meadow Brook Hall with its eighth annual auction event held in the Shotwell-Gustafson Pavilion on the grounds of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan – Saturday, August 2nd.
A significant collection of vintage automobiles has been assembled for this year’s sale. “Meadow Brook Hall provides the perfect historical backdrop for the sale of these golden era automobiles,” said Rob Myers of RM Auctions, Inc. “The cars we will feature are the epitome of the quality and craftsmanship that international car collectors expect.”
In addition to the centennial anniversaries of Ford and Buick, the Concours event will also be celebrating its own 25th anniversary with a rare 25-car display of vintage Duesenbergs.
Some of the featured automobiles for this sale include:
- 1931 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Henley Roadster – Considered the prettiest coachwork ever installed on the Rolls-Royce chassis, this outstanding example is one of just five correct examples remaining (nine were built). Formerly the property of noted Florida collector Bill Lassiter. Chassis #269 AJS.
- 1931 Marmon Sixteen Sport Coupe – Widely regarded as one of the finest and most powerful cars of the Classic era, the Marmon Sixteen was a highly advanced engineering design. The car’s coachwork was designed by LeBaron, and even today is regarded as a landmark example of good automotive design. One of a handful of examples remaining.
- 1962 Bentley S2 Saloon – Designed as the sporting counterpart to Roll-Royce, Bentleys were frighteningly expensive, but offered unparalleled refinement, performance, and beauty. The low mileage original example offered here among the most desirable – a left drive, factory air-conditioned car with a well documented owner history.
