Chrysler introduces “lifetime powertrain warranty” in the U.S.

Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler has announced that it will extend its powertrain warranty in the U.S. from the 3 year/36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty to a new Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. There was no indication that the new warranty will be extended to Canadian buyers.

The new warranty applies to most new Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles purchased from dealer inventory, and delivered on or after July 26, 2007. The warranty covers the cost of all parts and labour needed to repair covered powertrain components, and is limited to the first registered owner or retail lessee.

To continue the coverage, the owner must have a powertrain inspection performed by an authorized dealer once every five years, at no charge, within 60 days of each five-year anniversary of the warranty start date of the vehicle.
