Chrysler Group partners with Lee Iacocca Foundation to fight diabetes
Auburn Hills, Michigan – The Chrysler Group has announced that it has become an official partner of the Iacocca Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to support diabetes research. The two parties are in the process of finalizing the details of the fundraising program.
As part of the partnership, former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca is appearing in four advertisements for the Chrysler Group. The fourth and final commercial, “Golf Buddies”, began airing August 6th, and features Iacocca with hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg. Iacocca donated his fees for the commercial to the Iacocca Foundation’s JoinLeeNow initiative, which has raised nearly US$6 million to date for a planned clinical trial at Massachusetts General Hospital. Iacocca’s wife Mary died of complications of type 1 diabetes. Iacocca established the foundation in 1984 in her honour; it has given more than US$20 million to diabetes research.
