Chrysler Group launches production of all-new 2007 Jeep Patriot

Auburn Hills, Michigan – The Chrysler Group has launched production of its tenth all-new vehicle this year, the 2007 Jeep Patriot, at its Belvidere, Illinois Assembly Plant. The plant, which was extensively retooled in 2005 for flexible manufacturing, also launched the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass in 2006.

The new compact Patriot SUV delivers 4×4 capability, as well as a new entry-level price point for the Jeep brand. Based on the Patriot concept first introduced at the 2005 International Motor Show in Frankfurt, the Patriot combines the packaging and interior flexibility of an SUV with the performance, handling, fuel economy and price of a compact car or small pickup. The Patriot also features standard side curtain airbags and electronic stability control.

The Patriot will be available in Canada and the U.S. in front-wheel drive or two four-wheel systems: Freedom Drive I, a full-time, active four-wheel system with Lock mode, and Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package with low range to provide Jeep 4×4 Trail Rated capability.
