Auburn Hills, Michigan – The Chrysler Group has started production of the all-new 2007 Aspen SUV at its Newark Assembly Plant in Newark, Delaware. The plant underwent a US$180 million retooling and bodyshop renovation, allowing it to produce the Dodge Durango and Chrysler Aspen on the same assembly line.

Newark joins the Chrysler Group’s growing list of flexibility assembly plants, which allow the company to efficiently build lower-volume vehicles to take advantage of market niches, and to quickly shift production volumes to different models within a single plant, or between multiple plants. With flexible manufacturing, the rolling launch of the Aspen was completed in 24 months.
