Chrysler Group executives earn Diversity Awards
Baltimore, Maryland – Two Chrysler Group executives were given special honours at the annual Black Engineer of the Year Award ceremonies in Baltimore last weekend. Tom LaSorda, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group, was inducted into the Black Engineer of the Year Alumni Association, while Byron Kearney, Vice-President of Product Development, Core Components and Process, was presented with the 2006 Dean’s Award.
LaSorda is one of only three industry representatives to be inducted; the honour is granted to individuals who exhibit significant contributions to the Black Engineer of the Year organization. Kearney became the ninth Chrysler Group designer or engineer since 1999 to be honoured; he helped develop the company’s Chief Engineering system and led two vehicle teams in the design, production and marketing of mid-sized vehicles.
