Marysville, Michigan – The Chrysler Group broke ground yesterday at the future site of the Marysville Axle Plant in Marysville, Michigan. The new facility represents an investment of US$700 million.

The new plant is part of the company’s “Powertrain Offensive,” a US$3 billion investment to produce more fuel-efficient engines, transmissions and axles for the Chrysler Group.

Construction on the plant will begin this summer; when it reaches full capacity in 2010, it will employ 900 people and produce 1.2 million axles each year.
