Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler has fired thirteen workers and given two others a disciplinary one-month layoff without pay following an incident where the workers were filmed by a Detroit television station allegedly drinking beer and smoking marijuana on their lunch hour. The workers were from the Jefferson Avenue plant, which builds the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Chrysler said it completed its investigation of the incident and determined that the thirteen employees were engaged in behaviour that violated the company’s standards of conduct.

In a statement, Chrysler said, “As is evidenced by the swift action taken in this matter, it should be clear that Chrysler Group will not tolerate such behaviour and will continue to evaluate its protocols to ensure that something like this does not happen again.”
