Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler has announced it will extend shutdowns for an additional week at three plants, further cutting production in the wake of slow sales.

Workers at Belvidere in Illinois, Sterling Heights in Michigan, and Toluca in Mexico will return to their jobs on January 26.

The announcement follows previous notice that workers at the Toledo North Assembly Plant and Supplier Park in Ohio will return to work on January 26, while those in Windsor, Ontario and in the Conner Avenue plant in Detroit will return February 2.

Workers at the rest of Chrysler’s 23 plants are expected to return to work on January 19 in Canada and Mexico, and on January 20 in the U.S.  Some workers in powertrain, stamping and component plants will return either on January 20 or 26.  The company said it will continue to monitor economic conditions when making further operational decisions.
