Auburn Hills, Michigan – Chrysler has strongly denied rumours and reports that the company is in discussion to sell its Jeep brand, any manufacturing plants, or tooling for existing vehicles. The announcement was made by Tom LaSorda, Chrysler vice-chairman and president.

“What was reported that we’re in discussions to sell the Jeep brand is absolutely false,” LaSorda said in a conference call to reporters. “We will not separate the brands from the company.”

LaSorda said that the company has had discussions about selling the tooling of previous-generation vehicles or those that have been discontinued, and has said for more than a year that it will sell non-earning assets or those that “may be coming due.” But he said that any reports that the company would sell one of its manufacturing plants are untrue.
