Chevrolet to supply E85 vehicles to MTV Video Music Awards
New York, New York – As “official vehicle” of the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, Chevrolet will provide a customized fleet of sixty E85-compatible SUVs to transport celebrities to the telecast at Radio City Music Hall, and provide production support in and around New York City.
The specialty fleet will be branded to promote the show, as well as GM’s Flex Fuel technology, which is at the centre of a “Live Green, Go Yellow” campaign. The company will also provide a one-of-a-kind “pimped out” 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Concept, designed by Chip Foose, which will debut at the event.
Following the event, the E85 vehicles will be sold to the public at local New York dealerships, each accompanied by a plaque commemorating its use at the show. Ironically, E85 is not currently sold to the public in New York; for the event, the New York City Department of Sanitation will accept a shipment of the ethanol-enhanced fuel specifically for the vehicles and will provide a fuelling station. Later this month, GM and the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition plan to announce new station openings supporting E85 fuel.
