2009 Chevrolet Impala 50th anniversary edition
Oshawa, Ontario – General Motors has announced a commemorative 50th Anniversary Edition of the Chevrolet Impala to mark the Impala’s half-century mark. The new model will debut this month. Like the original 1958 edition, the new edition is distinguished with unique trim and amenities.
“We are thrilled to mark 50 years of the Impala,” said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada’s vice-president of sales, service and marketing. “The Impala has always stood for value, performance and style, making it popular with Canadians. In addition, it is built right here in Oshawa at our quality award-winning car assembly plant.”
The 50th Anniversary Edition, with a base price of $30,990, is added to the Impala LT and includes 18-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, two-tone leather-trimmed seats with “50th” logo, eight-way power driver’s seat, leather-wrapped wheel, ebony carpet and floor mats, Black Granite Metallic or Red Jewel Tintcoat exterior colours, and special 50th Anniversary badges.
The original Impala was a premium package for the full-size Bel Air in 1958, and in 1959 was a stand-alone model featuring a 335-horsepower, 348-cubic-inch (5.7-litre) V8 engine. The model was distinguished in the early years by its six taillights, as other full-size Chevrolet models had only four. The performance-oriented Impala SS was added in 1961.
