Detroit, Michigan – Chevrolet has announced the all-new 2013 Malibu, its first global midsize car for customers in nearly 100 markets on six continents.

The new model made its global debut with simultaneous introductions in the United States, Canada and China.

“The current Malibu successfully redefined expectations for Chevrolet cars by delivering a segment leader and award winner,” said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of GM Canada. “This all-new Malibu further builds on the transformation underway at Chevrolet through a winning combination of dynamic styling, superior handling, outstanding fuel efficiency and leading safety features.”

The new Malibu will feature an all-new, fuel-efficient 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic transmission, segment-best aerodynamics close to those of the Chevrolet Volt and including active electronic shutters on select models, more spacious dual-cockpit interior, European-influenced ride and handling, and new safety features including ten airbags, ultra-high-strength steel, lane departure warning and forward collision warning, and rearview camera system. It has a shorter wheelbase but wider front and rear tracks compared to the model it replaces.
