Windsor, Ontario – Chrysler Canada confirmed today that a new national labour agreement, covering 8,000 employees, has been ratified by the CAW represented workforce in Canada.
“The new agreement rewards employees for their commitment during our ongoing recovery and narrows the gap on our future competitiveness here in Canada,” said Al Iacobelli, Vice President, Employee Relations, Chrysler Group LLC. “Chrysler has been extremely loyal to the Canadian market over the last 87 years with very stable production capacity and employment levels. One in every 4 vehicles built by our Corporation around the world is made by our Canadian workforce and we are pleased to recognize their efforts.”
The new agreement freezes the current base wage for existing employees for the duration of the agreement, but it provides them with a $3,000 ratification award as well as lump sum payments of $2,000 in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
A new compensation structure for future employees has been established that provides for a 10-year progression before their wages ultimately match those of current employees.
