CAW President meets with new head of Chrysler
Windsor, Ontario – During a stop in Windsor, Ontario to celebrate the launch of Chrysler’s new minivan, Canadian Auto Workers Union (CAW) president Buzz Hargrove met for the first time with new Chrysler CEO Bob Nardelli.
Nardelli, the former CEO of Home Depot, was appointed to the position on August 5, 2007 following the company’s majority purchase by Cerberus Capital Management; during the meeting, he confirmed Chrysler’s commitment to supporting its Canadian facilities, the CAW says.
“We were reassured that there would be no ‘strip and flip’ situation at Chrysler,” Hargrove says. “(Nardelli) expressed a willingness to work with the CAW to strengthen the company for the future.”
