CAW members vote in favour of tentative agreement at Ford
Toronto, Ontario – Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) members who work at Ford Canada have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a new three-year collective agreement. At ratification meetings on the weekend, 94.9 per cent of Ford production workers voted in favour, while 95.5 per cent of skilled trades did.
The negotiations include the closure of the Windsor, Ontario castings plant and the phase-out of the V6 engine at a Windsor engine plant, with a loss of an estimated 1,100 jobs over the term of the agreement.
The union is continuing negotiations with DaimlerChrysler, with expiry of the current settlement coming at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, September 20.
