CAW holds forum in St. Catherines today to discuss auto industry crisis
Toronto, Ontario – Today, Canadian Auto Workers union president Buzz Hargrove and CAW economist Jim Stanford will be in St. Catharines, Ontario to make the case for urgent attention by all levels of government to create an auto investment strategy for Canada. St Catharines has been hit hard with structural adjustments by the auto industry resulting in hundreds of layoffs. The CAW says the lack of an auto pact means the industry is vulnerable.
Invited to the 11am to 1pm forum are local politicians, the mayor, and others with leadership roles in the St. Catharines community.
The forum will take place at the Local 199 Hall: 124 Bunting Road, St. Catharines. (Directions : take QEW from Toronto to St. Catharines, exit at Niagara St. South Service Road (next exit after Lake Street), stay on South Service Rd to Bunting Road, turn right and union hall is about half a block down).
