Vancouver, British Columbia – A fleet of Smart vehicles has arrived in Vancouver to launch the city’s Car2go car sharing service. The 225 “Car2go Edition” Smarts are available as of June 18, 2011.

Vancouver is the first Canadian city selected to launch the “free-floating” service. The cars have no time limits and members are allowed to make one-way trips, instead of returning the cars to their pick-up locations. Since the service was announced in April, approximately 2,000 Vancouver residents have registered and received their membership cards.

Car2go has extended the free registration period, a $35 value, until July 3, 2011. Vancouver residents can register at Car2go or in person at the Car2go office at 45 Water Street in Gastown.
