Quebec, Quebec – A new front-load refuse collection truck manufactured by Labrie Environmental Group of Quebec has won the prestigious Swedish Steel Prize.
The jury chose the Wittke Starlight truck based on its design and the optimum use of high-strength sheet steel.
“Labrie has come very far in the use of high-strength steels,” said Martin Lindqvist, chairman of the Swedish Steel Prize jury. “Their winning entry consists almost entirely of high-strength steels. The designers have been successful in optimizing the design in order to reduce weight, but without compromising on strength and functionality.”
The Swedish Steel Prize was founded in 1999 and is being awarded this year for the 11th time. The Labrie truck was chosen over designs from Italy, Sweden and Spain.
