Toronto, Ontario – Two Toronto students have placed second overall at the 2009 National Automotive Technology Competition, which took place as part of the New York International Auto Show in April 15.
Kevin Birchall and Eric Salb from Northview Heights Secondary School beat out some of the top high school automotive students in the U.S. and brought home thousands of dollars’ worth of scholarships, tools and equipment for their school. Only 20 points separated the Canadian team from the overall winners. The students had to diagnose a problem programmed into a 2009 Mazda6.
The pair qualified for the New York event by finishing first ahead of 16 teams in the annual AutoShow skills competition at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto in February.
